My, how time has flown!

Can you believe that Mahdi is turning 1 in less than 2 months?

Has it really been almost a year? That is so CRAZY!

Anyway, i've been looking at some things to get Mahdi for his birthday, and i am so spoiled for choices! I simply can't decide!

Project Me Me Me.

Ever since i've started working again, ive decided to be kind to myself and start rewarding myself from time to time. I've also decided to put some serious effort into my appearance, because lets face it. i've definitely been too comfortable and i've let myself go. (as you can see in this picture taken below.)
As you can CLEARLY see in this picture
- my hair is dry and gross.

- I'm horrendously overweight... last night i scaled in at a whopping 90kgs.   Woh.
- my skin is dull and pale
- my back hurts all the time
- my bones are creaky (ok, this cannot see, but im telling you)
- as you can see, my neck is slowly vanishing as my chin expands. Not acceptable.
- and somehow i feel like my teeth have moved and my gums are receding, making my more 'jongang' than i previously was.

And to be fair, most of these are due to poor maintenance of myself after giving birth
ie: not drinking enuff milk. hence the creaky bones and the receeding gums due to an iron defiency i had during my pregnancy
my gym membership has been on hold for the past few months, so this November its going to be reactivated. And i will have no excuse but to go and get fit!

I've been slowly paying more attention my skin and hair, more conditioning, using moisturizer before i sleep, those kind of things. However i found this GNC Hair, Skin & Nails Formula Supplement... does anyone know if it works? I was thinking of trying it out and see if it works. I've read mostly positive reviews so far.

I also recently had a haircut with bangs, which helped frame my face back a bit... so it doesn't look as huge as it did in the above photo.

As for my teeth, it's pretty obvious the solution is 'GO TO THE DENTIST'. But i'm stubborn and maybe i tiny bit afraid.. Which is so embarrassing as i am a grown woman.

Haih, no worries. Slowly but surely, i am going to fix all these things about myself, and hopefully be the happier, and no doubt hotter wife and mother. :)

I wish i had a million bucks.

Yesterday, i had a busy, busy productive day.

After breakfast and getting Mahdi cleaned and fed, we went to Symphony Heights to see a listing that our Realtor, CC had suggested.

Things i wish i had known before agreeing to see this house:
- I wish i knew it Symphony Heights was in Batu Caves.
- Wish i knew the unit was on the 24th floor.
- Wish i had declined in advance and not have wasted my time.

Honestly, the unit was pretty decent, huge living area, 3+1 rooms and 2 bathrooms, giant balcony with an amazing view of KLCC from every window.

If only i could get over the height. Even right now we are living on the 16th floor and i won't let Mahdi anywhere near the windows or balcony.. ini 24th floor, and he's going to be walking soon... mmg no way la.

So the search continues, ideally i would love a landed property, but unfortunately it's crazily out of our price range, and we don't fancy living in freaking Shah Alam, which so far away from our family, friends, and work. Doesn't make much sense to compromise on living quality, just for a few extra sqft of a front yard..

Sigh.

Anyway, after the disappointing house viewing, i met up with Mashi in OU, and somehow she managed to get me into a make up makeover at the Chanel counter.

I have to say, i usually would never ever ever think of buying something so frivolously expensive for makeup. But i gotta say i'm converting. After the make over, i felt like a million bucks! That is saying something, since i'm so used to drugstore make up. Maybe it's worth to upgrade my standards a bit, gotta get out of this mentality that i can't afford nice things. I'm a working woman, earning a living. :)

Ok, maybe i should start somewhere in the middle and not go full out Chanel yet. Maybe i'll start small with maybe something from middle range brand... like Bobbi Brown or M.A.C? Still sticking to the under rm200 range, instead of jumping to rm200+ for a tiny bottle of concealer.

Hmm.. will ponder on this some more. Will keep you posted.

Shit just got real.

Reading about heartless people dumping babies really breaks my heart.

How could anyone do that to something so beautiful.

Even so after carrying the baby a full 9 months and delivering it, how could they do that after feeling the baby's heart beating and move inside them? I cannot fathom it....

And it's not just the unforgivable act...but the surprising large amount of cases that happen in this country...

Taken from the STAR:

PETALING JAYA: There has been a spike in the number of baby-dumping incidences since 2010.
After dropping from 102 cases in 2008 to 79 in 2009, the figure increased to 91 and 98 in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
So far this year, 31 cases were reported, Women, Family and Community Development Ministry deputy secretary-general Harjeet Singh said. He said the increasing numbers could be due to more reports being made and society becoming aware of the scourge.
He said feedback from counselling sessions and case studies at several shelter homes for those aged under 18 listed peer pressure and lack of knowledge about reproductive health as the two most important factors that led to unwanted pregnancies.
Delivering the message: Students looking at posters of the ‘Say No to Baby Dumping’ seminar in Sunway.
“The desire to fit in influenced many teenagers into adopting the lifestyle of their peers,” he said after launching a “Say No to Baby Dumping” seminar here.
Harjeet said teenagers mixed freely with little parental supervision these days.
“Sometimes, the in-thing among them is to go to parties or have intimate relationships with their partners,” he said, adding that many of the young were not educated on how to avoid getting into such situations.
Syarhah Mohamed Tahir, a project administrator at OrphanCARE, said some underage teens were coaxed into having intimate relationships while others believed that their partners were truly in love with them.
OrphanCARE is an NGO that was started in 2008 to help expedite the adoption process for abandoned babies and children in orphanages. Consultant clinical psychologist Dr Alvin Ng Lai Oon said it was more important for teenagers to be taught skills to deal with unwanted pregnancies.
“If it happens, they should be taught how to manage it. An unwanted pregnancy is not the end of the world,” he said.
A few issues i have with this, firstly, preaching about abstinence and teaching children about safe sex is all good and dandy, but somehow i feel that it's a little unrealistic. What we need is emphasis that the crime isn't getting pregnant, but the killing of the innocent baby.
Other than that, i feel (i'm going to get into a lot of trouble for this.. but screw it), I FEEL, that government hospitals/clinics should allow for abortions. I know, it's terrible of me to think that. But, as long as the fetus, is not yet a baby, and after evaluating all other options (adoption and such), deeming that the mother, is unfit and not ready to have a child, she should be allowed to have an abortion. IF, she is over 18, regardless of her religion, she should be able to do so, without parental consent.
The problem in this country is FEAR.
FEAR, that people are going to find out.
FEAR, that my parents will scold me.
FEAR, that no one will want to marry me now.
Everyone is so afraid, but unfortunately no one is afraid enough of god. Because if they were, they wouldn't have had premarital sex in the first place, they are more afraid of 'what people think' that they don't want to deliver the baby in a hospital where people would judge them, but rather deliver alone in a dumpster.
Takut, of all the things that don't matter.
These CHILDREN matter.

They are unwanted by their parents, but they could have been
adopted by a family who would have loved them.

These women should be caught and charged with murder, and put in jail forever.. I don't care how young/naive they are. They obviously have no respect for life.

Nuff said.

What is love?

Being a mother has taught me a lot about life, and watching someone grow in front of my eyes makes me put a lot of things in perspective.

Whenever mahdi looks at me, with this adoring look on his face.... i can't help but feel like he's telling me that he loves me.

It's uncomplicated love.... then it got me thinking, why is it so hard for some people to find love, when we are basically born with it.

Mahdi didn't have to learn to love me.. but he does so, regardless of my flaws.

So what is love?

I think love, is basically having someone you need more than anything else.

Its not based on personality, and superficial reasons... because my baby taught me that he doesn't need toys to be happy.

He's happy enough just having us talk to him, and cuddle him. Cuz he needs me... therefore he 'loves' me.

I feel the same way about all the other people i love... my family, Muuzi and my friends.

Muuzi, for example... i couldn't imagine my life now without him. I need him in my life, therefore i love him.

so, Basically, falling in love... is realizing that you 'need' that person in your life.

Hence why, you feel helpless when someone you love/need isn't available.

So when you find someone that 'needs' you, and you find that you 'need' them too.... never let them down. :)

The two people i need the most. :)

Pregnant Muses..

I'm currently toying with the idea of getting some pictures taken of me being pregnant.

Would be an awesome idea if my face wasn't as swollen as it is now... but still could be a cool keepsake to look back on..

Obviously i don't expect myself to look like Giselle, Heidi or Miranda... but you get the gist of what i'm going for right?
This is the closest thing i have so far to a decent bump picture... but it would be nice to have one that wasn't taken by myself.. in a public toilet.

Nesting.

Been in the new house for over a week now, and i gotta say, it's looking up.

We had a COWAY water filter installed, which has been super helpful during these fasting months.. We've managed to unpack most of our things, minus most of our clothes because we don't have a proper wardrobe unit yet..

On saturday we finally had time off to go swimming and try out our condo swimming pool.. was awesome!

Because of all the extra weight i've been carrying, i have been feeling suffocated and everything that could possibly ache is aching.. turns out all i needed was a quick dip in the pool and feel weightless for a few minutes. :)

Anyway, i got to get ready right now, i need to go meet Alia in KL and to Tok's for buka puasa..  tata!

Today, marks my 14th week of pregnancy.. that leaves us with... another 26 weeks of enticipation, til i get to see my baby.

Me and Muuzi are extra excited, and Muuzi even already decided on a name if it's a boy, so i thought that it's only fair that i choose the girls name...

I really want it to be a boy, the idea of my kids having a big brother has always been my dream situation.

But the girls name that i choose is so awesome, that i kinda wish it was a girl plak. Haih.. Im so fickle.

ps: Jakarta tomorrow for the next 6 days!!! WOoHooo!!

Life goes on

I apologize for my lack of updates of late.

It's not that i've been busy, it's just that i didn't have much to say.

Well, that's not true either, i have a lot of things to say, most of which i've kept pretty much to myself.

Today is the last day of my first trimester. Which simply means i'm three months into my pregnancy and i'm feeling a lot (A LOT) better...

The morning ALL DAY sickness i've been experiencing has finally given up in making my life miserable.

Me and Muuzi are planing to move by the end of july, so im pretty excited about that.

I've been unemployed for the last month, and i have to say, having ample free time on your hands isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I really miss working. I really need to get some personal projects started or i will lose my mind... or worse, be a permanent couch vegetable. (i.e: potato)

pls. make. it. stop.

Who knew getting knocked up is an awesome way to lose weight!

So far i've lost 5kg's, from all the nausea and morning ALL-DAY-LONG sickness. But fret not, my Dr said it's a normal thing to loose weight in the first trimester, followed by the giant weight gain in the second. Erk.

I'm expected to put on an extra 12kg's during the later stages of pregnancy. Basically i will be the size of a small hippo. :(

A mother's sacrifice i guess.

Right now, i feel horrible, i can't eat anything. Either i order something, and can only eat half or i am finally able to finish a meal, and it all comes back out. Gross.

On the bright side, my lovely sister-in-law Dona (muuzi's brothers wife), had her baby boy in Jakarta yesterday. :)

So kinda shows me all this is worth so much in the end.

Meet me and muuzi's new little nephew, Mr Muhammad Dalmar Latif bin Taqiuddin

Carrots, Eggs, & Coffee

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up, She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked,
'Tell me what you see.'

'Carrots, eggs, and coffee,' she replied.

Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard boiled egg.

Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked,'What does it mean, mother?'

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened. The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

'Which are you?' she asked her daughter. 'When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavour. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest do you elevate yourself to another level? How do you handle adversity?

Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy.
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.

Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

Im living the life of a 'adult'.

i'm 26 this year *cringe*, i'm married, have a full time job, and have bills to pay. I'm suppose to be a grown up.. right?

Honestly i am still struggling to find out what to do with my life...

I love what i do, but at some point i would like to start a family.. and the advertising gig and it's unpredictable working hours might be challenging.

Hmm.. well, we'll just have to wait and see i guess. Family life is a long time away. :)

2011 resolutions.

2010 was a tough year, financially, emotionally, psychically, socially.

Basically 2010 sucked.

Sure, we got married this year, but adapting as a newly married couple was tough at first.

But we learned A LOT from each other, he learned to be more thrifty with his money, and i learned that some arguments are not worth having (there's always a bigger picture).

This year i made a lot of new friends, but also lost a friend who is so dear to my heart. Getting married really shows you who your real friends are, now that you are not that cool-party-girl anymore. Some might bail on you, and find 'cooler' more happening friends, but the ones that are still there are the once you will keep for life. :)

Typical with my attitude towards blogging in 2010, i failed to write up new year resolutions, which is probably why 2010 was such a sucky year.

So this year, i'm not making the same mistakes!
I present to you my 2011 Resolutions!!

On the EVE of 2011 i pledge to..

  • when they are caught cheating, and say that it's all in our imagination.
  • when girls break up with nice guys, only to go out with assholes.
  • when these assholes keep coming back despite several break ups. Like Cockroaches.
  • when you break up with a guy cuz 'i just want to be single' translated 'i wanna be with someone else that is NOT YOU'.
  • You don't want to go out with a nice guy because you don't want to hurt them.
  • when your friend says you've changed since you got married, when in actuality they haven't even tried hanging out with sed married friend or call/msg/wtv after they got married.

Irky.

Can't blame how i feel on PMS, since it's been happening more months, but i get easily annoyed lately.

Just thinking about certain things makes me irky.

Feel like something/someone, is missing from my life... and well, i hate that i'm no longer considered a friend to that person.

Sad but true, this person avoids me like the plague, and i just don't know how it became this way. It just did.

Hmm... somehow i know i don't deserve being treated this way.

Mullet Dejavu

The Mullet

Yes, that’s the technical term for these monstrosities.

The coif popularized in the ‘80s and described as all business up front, party in the back, was momentarily resurrected by the Blackhawks Patrick Kane during their run up to the Stanley Cup (fortunately he got a haircut prior to the NHL Awards Show).

Of course, fashion takes everything to a new level Presenting, THE MULLET DRESS! Apparently there are many ways to wear this style....

The Mullet LBD
Hi-End Mullet
The O-T-T Mullet
I gotta say, I don't totally hate this style.... especially this Valentino Couture worn by Jessica Alba.... looks like this trend it not dying out anytime soon.

From my hobby blog... are you following it yet?
